Mental Health and Substance Use Panel April 20
Mental Health Awareness Organization

The Mental Health Awareness Organization invites students to attend a Mental Health and Substance Use Panel at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, in Arkansas Union 504. This panel discussion will focus on the relationship between mental health and substance use as it relates to the lives and experiences of students. The panel will explore the impact of substance misuse on mental health, the influence of mental health conditions on substance use, and connect students with resources on campus that can help with these issues.

All U of A students are welcome to attend. The panel will feature a number of specialists who are experienced in the areas of substance education and mental health promotion. From Pat Walker's Department of Wellness and Health Promotion, Dr. Asher Morgan and Megan Pollard will sit on the panel, as well as Kimberly Williams from Pat Walker's Counseling and Psychological Services. The panel will also feature professor Whitney Payne from the School of Social Work, who teaches a number of substance use disorder related courses. Through this panel, the Mental Health Awareness Organization seeks to educate the student body on this issue and to provide information about what resources are available to students.
