Get Your Hands Dirty at the Spring Sustainability Mixer Today

The Office for Sustainability and Associated Student Government will be hosting the first-ever Spring Sustainability Mixer from 3-4 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, in the Maple Hill East Courtyard. Representatives from all major sustainability RSOs will be tabling to share how to get involved and what initiatives are lined up for the rest of the semester. This will be an incredible opportunity to connect with other sustainability-minded students! 

The event will be followed by a workday in the Maple Hill Garden, also located in the Maple Hill East Courtyard. The Maple Hill Garden was rehabilitated by Sydney Golding as ASG director of sustainability in 2020. The garden was designed in partnership with Biodesic Strategies with a permaculture approach that focuses on developing ecologically harmonious, efficient and productive systems. Each plant, placement and management practice is systematically devised to create a sustainable, resilient food garden ecosystem. Biodesic Strategies has also partnered with the Office for Sustainability on other campus projects to install pollinator plots and convert the Oak Ridge Trail System into a forest garden enriched with native edibles and wildlife habitat.
