Call for Research Assistants in Child-Focused Lab

The Center for Research on Aggression and Victimization Lab, directed by Timothy Cavell, is currently in need of undergraduate research assistants for the Spring 2022 semester. A primary focus of the lab is developing and evaluating interventions for school-aged children who have difficulty connecting to school or relating to peers and are at risk for later problems. Of particular interest are interventions involving parents, teachers or mentors. Our research focuses on examining school supports for military students, involving parents in identifying informal or natural mentors for their children and examining peer victimization and bullying in elementary-aged students.

Undergraduates in our lab have the opportunity to gain experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection and management, learn data analysis skills for both quantitative and qualitative data, and engage in professional development opportunities such as submitting and co-authoring poster presentations to national conferences.

For more information, students can visit Cavell's lab website at crav.uark.edu. If you are interested in applying, you can download the research assistant application under the "Joining the Lab" tab. Once it is completed, email it to Cavell's graduate student Julia Kiefer at jkiefer@uark.edu
