Join Women in Medicine for 'Chick-fil-A with Chick PA's' on Nov. 16
Women in Medicine invites students to attend Chick-fil-A with Chick PA's at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16, in Gearheart Auditorium 026. Women in Medicine is a medical society for women at the U of A committed to discussing gender stereotypes and equality in the medical field. WiM strives to provide the skills and knowledge necessary for women to enter their desired health care field. This in-person event is for female students interested in becoming a physician's assistant in the future as well as for any WiM members interested in learning from respected PA's personal experiences as women in the medical field.
The female PA's we are honored to have speak at this event are Sara Vann, Candace Harper and Kelly Lueders. Vann works in the Washington Regional Emergency Room and the Neuro ICU as a stroke provider and attended the Philadelphia University Physician Assistant Studies Program. Harper works in neurosurgery at Washington Regional and attended the PA program at Arizona State University. Lueders is a PA assisting Pat Walker Health Center with COVID test follow ups and has extensive clinical experience as a PA practicing in Arkansas.
The goal of WiM is to monitor the status of women in medicine and science at the U of A to increase knowledge about equality of participation, professional advancement and compensation. This event will build pre-PA's knowledge before entering their field by learning from those who have walked the path before them. These strong female PA's will inspire U of A female students as role models to share their successes and knowledge as women in the medical field.
This event is supported by the Student Activities Fee as a funded event of the Associated Student Government and is free to all currently enrolled U of A students who pay the student activities fee. For questions about this event or for accommodations needed due to a disability, please contact Ellie Magera, ehmagera@uark.edu, at (817) 983-3847.
