CAPS to Host National Depression Screening Day Event Oct. 7 at Arkansas Union
Every year, Pat Walker Health Center's Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) hosts a National Depression Screening Day event on campus to help raise awareness and screen people for depression and mood disorders, which allows individuals to identify warning signs and connect with the appropriate treatment resources.
Screenings and Self-Assessments are not diagnostic, but help determine if a student is exhibiting symptoms associated with depression and other mood disorders and if they should seek help.
This year, National Depression Screening Day is Thursday, Oct. 7.
At this year's event, CAPS staff will be at the Arkansas Union talking to students about Togetherall — an anonymous social media-style mental health app that gives students a safe place to connect with others experiencing similar feelings, as well as access to useful self-help resources, peer groups, self-assessments and more.
Students are encouraged to stop by the Union between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to learn more about this exclusive mental health resource and the importance of early detection of mental health warning signs.
