UREC to Offer Membership Discount for Staff Appreciation Week

University Recreation would like to invite all U of A staff members to sign up for a UREC membership during this year's Staff Appreciation Week. Sign up this week through Oct. 8 to be eligible for a 10 percent discount on the main member rate. 

The Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Building serves as the department's main facility. Highlights include the Donna Axum Fitness Center, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, four basketball courts, an indoor track, group fitness studios, functional training areas, cycle studio, racquetball courts, bouldering and climbing walls, UREC Outdoors, equipment rentals and locker and shower facilities.

  • The UREC Fitness Center (located on the second floor of the Arkansas Union)
    6,000 square feet of fitness floor space
    1,500-square-foot group exercise room
    Cardio and strength training equipment
    Locker and shower facilities.  
  • The UREC Sports Complex (fields at Mitchell Street)   
    Four intramural fields
    One club field 
    Two sand volleyball pits 
    Open recreation opportunities.

Coming in Spring 2022! The UREC Tennis Center will be located at the corner of Indian Trail and MLK Boulevard, behind the Chick‑fil‑a, and will include 12 lighted tennis courts for UREC members.

Staff who are interested in taking advantage of the discount during Staff Appreciation week can call 479-575-4646, email urec@uark.edu or stop by the UREC main office during open hours of operation. Staff are allowed to pay with payroll deduction. Completed payroll deduction forms may be sent to urec@uark.edu.

The UREC Main Office hours are:*

  • Monday through Thursday — 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m.
  • Friday — 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday — Closed
