U of A Student Wins Music Organization Scholarship
The Fayetteville Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota congratulates Alexis Saldivar for winning the SAI scholarship for women in music. The application included transcripts, letters of recommendation, short essay and a recorded performance.
The scholarship committee was lead by SAI President Stephanie Richardson and Treasurer Laura Speer. Richardson stated, "We were very impressed with the quality of all the performances submitted by the applicants. The alumnae chapter is looking forward to awarding another scholarship this spring."
Saldivar is a senior vocal music education major and a first generation college student from Berryville. In her letter to the committee, she wrote, "After working with the well-rounded voice faculty at the U of A, I was pushed and encouraged to find my voice and leave my insecurities in the past. All of my instructors and educators have left a long-lasting influence on my life."
The scholarship was applied toward tuition for courses she completed this summer. SAI is thrilled for her and wishes her well in her future endeavors.
