Razorback Reboot Starts Today

Today is the start of Razorback Reboot, a series of open houses in each of the colleges coordinated by students for students. Razorback Reboot will introduce returning sophomores and juniors to their college's resources and connections they may have missed out on due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Razorback Reboot began as a small project by a group of freshmen last spring and has grown into six campus events taking place from Aug. 25 to Sept. 1.

Sophomore Josie Zakrzewski from North Little Rock, majoring in international and global studies, who is coordinating this initiative, comments, "Razorback Reboot started as a passion project by a group of freshmen and has now grown into so much more. Our motto, 'Students Supporting Students,' is not only who we are but what we hope to inspire in others. It is incredible to know that, although we lost so much of our freshman year to COVID, we have been able to persevere and transform our struggles into a program that will help all students find their home in the University of Arkansas."

The coordinating team consists of a dedicated group of sophomores that include Reed Fagg, Allie Rosen, Steele Engleman, Amanda Thomsen and Daisy Rehbock, along with many other student leaders. The Razorback Reboot leaders have partnered with the Office of the Dean of Students, the Associated Student Government and each of the U of A undergraduate colleges to create unique events that will serve the students within each respective college.

"It's amazing to see how this group of students saw a need and took the steps to recreate an experience that wasn't possible a year ago," said Lori Lander, assistant vice chancellor for campus life and associate dean of students. "Razorback Reboot is designed to assist students to connect with other students and faculty by college in hopes enhancing opportunities of engagement and success."

Each event will consist of a speech delivered by a dean or member of faculty and will be followed by an open house with tabling from registered student organizations related to that college, specific college resources and an opportunity to engage faculty. Students will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for prizes, including Amazon gift cards, hammocks and a pair of AirPods. Snacks and other giveaways will also be included.

Events will take place as follows:

Walton College: Wednesday, Aug. 25, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., on the Walton lawn area

Fulbright College: Thursday, Aug. 26, 3-4:30 p.m., on the Old Main Lawn
