Department of Music Announces 2021 Saxophone Scholarship Competition Winners

The U of A Department of Music would like to congratulate the winners of the Community Music School's 2021 Saxophone Scholarship Competition.

  • 1st place — Tyler Trickey ($6,000 scholarship)

  • 2nd place — Hudson Cearley ($5,000 scholarship)

  • 3rd place — Avery Angus ($4,000 scholarship)

The scholarship is for current high school juniors and seniors who want to major in music at the U of A. 

This year's competition was held virtually and evaluated by teaching assistant professor Eric Troiano and director of bands Christopher Knighten. 

The winners were announced yesterday via Zoom and the winners will be able to attend a masterclass with a guest musician.
