Virtual Talk to Focus on 'Bamboo Ceiling'

A virtual talk hosted by the Asian and Pacific Islander Employee Impact Group will discuss "the bamboo ceiling" as part of Women's History Month.

"The Bamboo Ceiling: Advocacy, Allyship and Identity" will be held from 1-2 p.m. today, Monday, March 8, with speakers Isabel Fang, director of pricing at J.B. Hunt, and Ka Zeng, professor of political science and director of Asian Studies at the U of A. The event can be attended via Zoom.

In her role, Fang is responsible for all pricing support of its DCS Northeast Division. Prior to her current role, Isabel held multiple leadership positions in Walmart Stores Inc., the latest being senior director of global procurement. Additionally, she has been active in the local community and involved in multiple nonprofit organizations in the region, and is passionate about education and women empowerment.

In her faculty role, Zeng's research focuses on China's role in the global economy. She is the author or co-author of Trade Threats, Trade Wars; Greening China; and Fragmenting Globalization.

The talk is part of a month of events celebrating Women's History Month at the U of A.
