The Visionairi Foundation in partnership with the Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education, Office for Diversity and Inclusion, the African and African American Studies Program, and Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will present the 2021 Black History Month Kick-Off featuring the ZuZu African Acrobats at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1.

Originating in Mombassa, Kenya, the ZuZu African Acrobats have performed in over 25 countries. Their performances are a blend of circus style acrobatics and popular dance, set to African music. Based on 2000 years of history, their techniques have been passed down by an oral tradition that is similar to literary opuses like the Utendi wa Tambuka.

The show lasts 60 minutes, followed by a discussion on the importance of orality in Bantu culture and how cultural legacies have been faithfully preserved for generations through the power of living voice.

We are excited to bring this unique virtual event to Northwest Arkansas. The ZuZu African Acrobats are an enlightening experience that is truly representative of coastal Kenya and enjoyable for all audiences.
