Research Reproducibility & Replicability Webinar featuring Kevin Sexton, MD from UAMS
The U of A Research Replicability & Reproducibility (R&R) Committee will be hosting a Zoom webinar Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 10:30 a.m. The committee members invite undergraduates, graduates, post-docs, faculty and staff to join them for an insightful discussion of reproducibility and replicability.
Special attention in the main segment will be given to the topic of clinical informatics in the midst of the global pandemic. Kevin Sexton, M.D., will deliver the keynote presentation: "Clinical Informatics as an Ally for Data Reproducibility & Replicability in COVID-19 Research."
As a physician scientist, Sexton's clinical area of expertise is in trauma; specifically, the physiologic response to injury and resuscitation. His professorship includes teaching surgery, biomedical informatics and health policy and management at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock. Sexton currently serves as the associate director of the Institute of Digital Health & Innovation and as the associate chief clinical informatics officer for innovation, research and entrepreneurship at UAMS.
The webinar will start with a survey of Research Integrity (as applied to R&R) presented by Jason Ramage, director of research compliance, and Lora Lennertz, university data services librarian. The last portion will feature a panel discussion with campus experts Seth Warn (assistant professor of geosciences; CAST affiliate), Josh McGee (assistant professor of education reform; Chief Data Officer for the State of Arkansas), and Sexton, the keynote speaker. Members of the R&R Committee will also serve as panel members to answer questions from the audience.
To participate in this event, please register online at your earliest convenience. A confirmation email with the Zoom link will be sent once registered. Please submit questions to the panel by emailing research@uark.edu.
