U of A Releases Details Regarding Fall Commencement

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas will hold in-person fall commencement ceremonies Dec. 17-19, recognizing graduates from the spring, summer and fall semesters. The ceremonies will require appropriate social distancing and mask-wearing guidelines as well as other safety precautions set forth by the Arkansas Department of Health. 

“It has been a challenging year for all of us, so I’m really looking forward to fall commencement and the opportunity to recognize our graduates who all worked hard to make it to the finish line,” said Chancellor Joe Steinmetz. “While seating will be limited, I couldn’t be happier that our plans include family and guests as a part of this important milestone event.”   

2020 FALL COMMENCEMENT SCHEDULE

The number of ceremonies for each college will depend on the number of students attending. By the end of November, students will be assigned a time to attend their ceremony and will be emailed six tickets for their family and guests for that specific ceremony time.

Thu, Dec. 17

• All University (only graduate and law students recognized), Bud Walton Arena
  4 p.m and 6:30 p.m.

Fri, Dec. 18

• Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, Bud Walton Arena
  1 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
• College of Engineering, Barnhill Arena
  1:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 19

• College of Education and Health Professions, Bud Walton Arena
  8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
• Fay Jones School of Architecture, Barnhill Arena
  9 a.m.
• Walton College of Business, Bud Walton Arena
  1:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
• Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, Barnhill Arena
  2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The schedule can also be found on the Office of the Registrar’s website, which also features additional information regarding regalia and other procedures. 

Tickets will be required to attend the event, and seating is limited to graduating students and guests. Graduating students will be limited to six tickets for family and guests and will receive the tickets via email after completing registration. The number of ceremonies for each college will depend on the number of students who register to attend.

All 2020 degree graduates and candidates should have received an email from noreply@marchingorder.com with information on commencement and a link to the commencement registration website. 

Students planning on attending commencement must register on the registration site by Nov. 6 and will be asked to input an image and message for the virtual commencement site. Students who have not received this email should contact the office at registra@uark.edu or 479-575-2538. 

The virtual commencement site will be launched closer to commencement, featuring video remarks from university leadership and profiles of graduates.
