University of Arkansas Dean Emeritus Reed Greenwood, and his wife, Mary Ann, have established a COVID-19 emergency fund available to students in the College of Education and Health Professions.

The COEHP COVID Student Emergency Fund, initially created by a $5,000 gift from the Greenwoods, is accepting additional contributions to help education and health students who need financial assistance due to hardship experienced during the pandemic.

"Mary Ann and I had the good fortune to attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with support from our families and the university," Greenwood said. "As a former dean, I know firsthand how our scholarships and other support made a high quality education possible for our students.

"With these difficult times it is even more critical to help our students receive the resources to support the preparation that made our careers possible and our lives fulfilled."

Reed Greenwood retired as the dean of the College of Education and Health Professions in 2009 after a 35-year career with the U of A.

A native of eastern Arkansas, Greenwood attended the U of A, earning a B.S.E. in mathematics and social studies, an M.Ed. in education administration and an Ed.D. in counselor education. Mary Ann Greenwood, an investment adviser, also has three degrees from the university. She is from Pocahontas, Arkansas, and the two met on the Fayetteville campus.

Gifts may be donated directly to the COEHP COVID fund or by contacting Jamie Banks, the College's director of development, at jbanks@uark.edu.
