Harmon Avenue Parking Garage

Beginning July 1, metered parking in the Harmon Avenue Parking Garage will be on levels 1 and 2.

Metered parking has been on levels 8 and 9, but the change to the lowest levels was approved by the Transit, Parking, and Traffic Committee in its virtual meeting on May 20.

The change was made to lessen the traffic on Harmon Avenue and make it safer for pedestrians in that area. Those using metered parking should access the garage from the east side of the facility, from Duncan Avenue.

Many of those who park on levels 3-9 will want to enter the facility from Williams Street on the north or from Harmon Avenue on the west, but can also use the entrance for levels 1 and 2 to access the upper levels in the garage.

This summer Transit and Parking will add large banners at each entrance with the reminder that metered parking is on levels 1 and 2.

Additional Transit and Parking news:

  • Beginning on Monday, July 13, U of A employees may go online to purchase parking permits for the 2020-21 school year. Students may begin purchasing parking permits online beginning on Monday, July 27.
  • Transit and Parking has been coordinating its return to campus efforts with other departments on campus according to the U of A's Returning to Campus plan. More details will be provided as they become available.
