As part of an ongoing commitment to secure the data of this university, multi-factor authentication will be activated for all faculty, staff and student workers by the end of March.

IT Services will host an informational drop-in event at the IT Services Tech Spot in the Arkansas Union on Tuesday, March 3, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Stop by anytime to visit with a member of the project team and learn more about the multi-factor authentication process.

This type of authentication provides an additional layer of security, making it difficult for unauthorized users to access services, applications and data. Multi-factor authentication also reduces the chance that a UARK account will be compromised by phishing scams, automated bots and targeted attacks. Many banks and other institutions are already using this method as an added layer of security.

With multi-factor authentication, access to UARK accounts will be verified by combining something you know (username and password) with something you have (a trusted device, like a phone). When logging into a service like UARK email or Blackboard, a six-digit code is sent using an authenticator app, text or phone message.

Once activated, multi-factor authentication will be required for most online services, including: Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.), Adobe, UAConnect, Blackboard Learn, Box and more.
