Jefferie Renegar, center, receives the Global Campus employee of the quarter award from Cheryl Murphy, left, vice provost for distance education, and Jamie Loftin, assistant vice provost for distance education administration.

Jefferie Renegar has been named employee of the second quarter by the University of Arkansas Global Campus.

Renegar, a financial support specialist in the Office of Financial Affairs and Human Resources, was nominated for her outstanding work. She joined Global Campus in June 2017, and she supports a wide range of financial and travel transactions. She is part of a five-person team that manages finances for the Global Campus, online education, and professional and workforce development.

"Receiving the employee of the quarter is quite an honor because this award begins as a peer nomination," Renegar said. "Global Campus is the most incredible group of people that I could imagine working with. We are a family of diverse individuals that step up, no matter if the need is professional or personal. It is a privilege to work with such an amazing group of talented, caring people."

The coworkers who nominated Renegar praised her willingness to mentor other staff, helping them to understand policies and processes. She recently organized training sessions to help staff who create procurement and travel documents.

"Jefferie keeps the GC financial transactions running smoothly by ensuring they are consistent, accurate, and within policy," her colleagues said. "She is the first person to offer me assistance when I need help. She also takes on additional work to help others. Jefferie is a vital member to our organization and helps us deliver excellence every day."

Cheryl Murphy, vice provost for distance education, recognized Jefferie as the employee of the quarter at the January staff meeting.

"Many people are not even aware of all the behind-the-scenes work she does," Dr. Murphy said. "Jefferie is a true unsung hero."

Jamie Loftin, the assistant vice provost for distance education administration and Renegar's supervisor, said Renegar is dependable and willing to help wherever her talents are needed.

"I was thrilled for Jefferie to receive this recognition," Loftin said. "Jefferie ensures Global Campus meets many important deadlines regarding vendor payments and P-Card and T-Card approvals. She is the kind of employee and colleague that everyone wants on their team."

The Global Campus awards the employee of the year to recognize outstanding achievements and accomplishments that relate to the unit's goals and the U of A mission. The award recipient receives a commemorative certificate and a monetary award.

The Global Campus supports U of A academic colleges and schools in the development and delivery of online degree programs and courses, self-paced online courses, and workforce development programs. This unit provides instructional design services, learning technology support, media production services, and assistance with financial administration, recruitment and marketing.

The Global Campus also supports the W.E. Manning Memorial Scholarship, which is open to undergraduate and graduate students studying in online degree programs.
