Department of Communication Fall Colloquium Series

The Center for Communication and Media Research, in tandem with the Department of Communication, presents a colloquium series for the 2019-20 academic year. This series includes two fall events. The first event is scheduled for 4 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 1, in 105 Kimpel Hall.

Mengfei Guan, assistant professor in the Department of Communication, will present her work on health risk perception and behavioral intention.

"Enhancing the relationship between health risk perception and behavioral intention: The role of tailoring temporal message frame to indivuals' time orientation" explores risk perception as a robust predictor of protective behaviors in health communication. However, even when people are aware of a health risk, they do not always adopt a risk-reducing behavior due to the temporal distances between the behavior and its expected positive outcomes.

The December colloquium will be Friday, Dec. 6, and will feature Lauren B. Quetch of the Department of Psychological Science speaking on "Building Treatments for underserved children and families."
