The Department of Information Systems, including Enterprise Systems and the Blockchain Center of Excellence, at the Sam M. Walton College of Business hosted a breakfast networking social on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

The event provided students participating in the blockchain, business analytics, and enterprise resource planning areas of study to informally meet and engage with potential employers prior to the Walton College Fall Career Fair. This is the third semester that information systems and its enterprise systems have hosted the social, and the first time for students and companies focused on blockchain.

More than 30 representatives from 16 companies participated. Their representatives met with more than 50 undergraduate and graduate students. Rajiv Sabherwal, chair of the Department of Information Systems, noted that department faculty members Ron Freeze and Susan Bristow planned this event and executed it along with Walton College Career Services. Paul Cronan, director of Enterprise Systems, and Mary Lacity, director of the Blockchain Center of Excellence, provided valuable insights. The breakfast social was organized in a speed-dating fashion, which both students and business executives found valuable.

Students had the opportunity to learn about a range of potential job opportunities while business representatives were able to meet students across the department's various programs. With the success of the fall event, the information department will again do a Blockchain, Business Analytics, and Enterprise Resource Planning breakfast networking social on the morning of the Walton College Spring Career Fair in 2020.
