Discover Pakistan During This Month's Holcombe Global Series
The presentation starts at 8 p.m. today in Holcombe Hall's living room.
The evening features a short presentation followed by a sampling of a traditional Pakistani dish, chicken karachi.
Even though Pakistan was home to one of the world's oldest and most prosperous civilizations, the country still boasts many modern-day accomplishments; Pakistan has the world's largest canal-based irrigation system, world's largest deep seaport, the largest manmade forest, and much more.
"Pakistan is home to one of the oldest civilizations of the world, the mountains are beautiful, and the food is some of the best. I grew up in different regions of Pakistan sharing in the varying cultures, and the best thing for me was to appreciate the blend of cultures that we share as a whole," said presenter and student Fraz Tahir, "Pakistan is one of the most beautiful countries of the world rich in cultural diversity, food, and changing geography."
Pakistan is located in southern Asia, and has the Arabian Sea to the south, Iran and Afghanistan located to the west, India on the east, and China in the north.
"Learning about Pakistan from someone who has lived his entire life there would be a way to remove any misconceptions and stereotypes about Pakistan," Tahir said.
This event is open to all within the university community. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends and engage with the presenters after the presentation.
Global Series is an on-going program, and Iran kicked off the event series for the fall semester.
