Professor Russell Sharman of the Department of Communication explains the intricacies of the short film during summer intersession.

Student filmmakers and Russell Sharman, assistant professor of practice in the department of communication, in collaboration with the University of Arkansas Global Campus and Department of Theatre, produced and directed a short film in Fayetteville this summer. Staff Meeting will screen at the Fayetteville Film Festival at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3.

Incorporating a core group of student crew members who shadowed professional cinematographers, grips and gaffers, Sharman offered a course in Introduction to Film Production during the August intersession. Student filmmakers visited local professional production studios and conceived and executed their own short film with the help of the professional crew.

Watch the promotional film made by the student filmmakers to learn more about the Introductory Film Production course. Sharman and his students talk about their experiences.
