The University of Arkansas has had a productive year for technology with improvements to the campus network, phone system, VPN and two IT Services websites, just to name a few.  

With all of these changes, you likely missed a few of these announcements, so it's worth looking back on the top technology happenings from spring and summer 2019. 

New IT Services Website
After months of hard work, the IT Services website has a new design. The revamped website provides the campus community with easy-to-find service information, improved navigation and an updated look and feel.  

Student Technology Center Website Redesign
The university's Student Technology Center website had a facelift. The new website provides the campus community with easy-to-find contact information, features, hours and equipment checkout. It also highlights new tech center offerings, such as virtual reality headsets, a plotter printer, a green room and more.  

GlobalProtect VPN Launch
IT Services recently replaced the Pulse Secure VPN client with GlobalProtect from Palo Alto Networks. This new solution better integrates the campus network security platform and functionality with the VPN service, as well as adding broader support for campus devices. 

Lynda.com Upgraded to LinkedIn Learning​ 
Lynda.com, an online library of high-quality instructional videos on a variety of skills, technology and more, has been upgraded to LinkedIn Learning. This upgrade introduced several exciting new features while retaining access to the more than 11,000 Lynda.com courses.  

Gain by the Gigs: Successful 100Gb Connection 
Through a collaboration between High Performance Computing (HPC) and IT Services, research efforts can now dramatically expand via the successful completion of a project to connect U of A researchers to the power of a 100Gb network. 

VoIP Brings New Features to Campus Calling 
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a digital communication solution that can be used with physical office phones or on mobile devices from anywhere with an internet connection. Starting in February this year, phones across campus were replaced and numbers were transferred to the new VoIP system. New features will help faculty and staff perform their jobs better, like enhanced self-service, voicemail to email and improved integration of voice with meetings.
