Lori Birrell, head of the University Libraries Special Collections department, will host the workshop Becoming History Keepers: Organizing and Storing the Records of Your Family, Organization, or Yourself at 6 p.m. next Wednesday, Aug. 21, in the Walker Community Room of the Fayetteville Public Library. The workshop is offered at no cost to attendees; however, registration is required.

"Individuals and organizations often contact us, unsure of how best to preserve their records," said Birrell. "I'm looking forward to teaching this workshop and sharing with the community our department's practices to help ensure our region's history is available for future generations."

Birrell will share tools and methods used by the Special Collections department to preserve documents.

Special Collections supports the research, teaching and learning mission of the University of Arkansas by collecting, preserving and providing access to unique and rare materials. The public is welcome to visit and use Special Collections materials any time the department is open.
