The University of Arkansas Academic Advising Council transitioned to new committee chairs for the 2019-20 academic year. The council's committees give its members opportunities to participate in networking opportunities, professional development activities, and leadership opportunities.

The 2018-19 academic year was particularly pivotal for the organization, as it was the first year of the merger between the Professional Advisors Council and the Academic Advising Council. The merger allowed for the creation of committees and a larger role for advisers who served as committee chairs. Council leadership is comprised of an executive council and committee chairs. Academic advising directors comprise the leadership for the executive council, with Adrienne Gaines, College of Engineering, assuming presidential duties from Shane Barker, J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.
