Ann Gallaher (center) accepts the Global Campus Employee of the Quarter award from Donald Judges, vice provost for distance education, and Jamie Loftin, assistant vice provost for distance education administration.

Ann Gallaher has been named employee of the third quarter by the University of Arkansas Global Campus.

Gallaher, the assistant to the vice provost for distance education, was recognized at a recent staff meeting for going above and beyond her normal job duties. For example, Gallaher played an instrumental role in the coordination of the successful dean search for the College of Education and Health Professions. Donald Judges, vice provost for distance education, chaired that committee.

"Ann's work was instrumental in helping to bring the COEHP dean search to a successful conclusion," Judges said. "Her professionalism and genuine warmth helped the process's many moving parts — multiple meetings, interviews, and campus visits — to run smoothly.  The candidates frequently commented on how welcome they felt and how efficient the entire operation was."

A co-worker nominated Gallaher for the award, saying, "Just being Ann is an outstanding achievement. She's always so welcoming and kind, and she plans fantastic events. She makes everyone feel welcome and appreciated across all levels of the organization. She's amazing."

In addition to assisting the vice provost, Gallaher organizes unit and campus-wide events, disseminates critical unit communications, and works closely with directors of different departments inside the Global Campus. Gallaher joined the Global Campus in July 2017.

"It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of the Global Campus organization," Gallaher said. "I am most grateful to Dr. Judges for the empowerment he provides his staff to do valuable work.  Global Campus is in the business of changing people's lives through education, and I'm delighted to share in that mission."

The Office of the Vice Provost for Distance Education works with U of A academic colleges and schools to develop and deliver online degree programs, self-paced online courses, and workforce development programs. The Global Campus provides instructional design services, learning technology support, media production services, and assistance with financial administration, recruitment and marketing.

The Global Campus awards the employee of the quarter to recognize outstanding achievement and accomplishments that relate to the unit's goals and the U of A mission. The award recipient receives a commemorative certificate and a monetary award.
