Applications Open for Chancellor's Academic Fellows

The Office for Faculty Development and Enhancement is now accepting applications for the 2019-20 Chancellor's Academic Fellowship, an opportunity for senior faculty members to intern for an academic year with university administration. Applications will be open until Monday, June 3.
Three fellows will be chosen this year to work with Chancellor Joe Steinmetz, Provost Jim Coleman and Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation Dan Sui. Each fellow will work to support one of the three signature research areas by developing and implementing a plan and activities to engage with key campus constituencies to make recommendations to help drive focus and campus-wide growth in the area.
The three signature research areas are:
- Advancing the Data Revolution
- Improving Human Health and Community Vibrancy
- Innovating for a Resilient and Sustainable Future
The fellowships will begin in the fall 2019 semester and run through the spring 2020 semester. A stipend of $5,000 per semester will be awarded to the academic unit from which the faculty member is selected, which will cover one class if the fellow chooses to apply for release time. It can also be used to help support the candidate's research if there is no reduction in teaching load.
The application can be found on the Office for Faculty Development and Enhancement webpage under Chancellor's Academic Fellows. All faculty applications must be endorsed by the faculty's department chair or head, and department chair applications must be endorsed by the dean. Applicants will be required to submit a letter of interest and a current curriculum vita. The letter of interest should specify the candidate's chosen research area, experience and expertise relative to the area, what they hope to gain from the experience, and an outline of their approach to advance the selected area forward.
