University Libraries Seek Campus Feedback on Trial Databases
The University Libraries are currently running trials for two databases. Life, Time, and Vanity Fair Magazine Archives will be available to the campus community through May 23. ProQuest Historical Newspapers will be available through May 26. All are encouraged to use these resources and provide feedback.
The Life, Time, and Vanity Fair Archives include publications of Life magazine from 1932 to 2000, Time magazine from 1923 to 2000 and Vanity Fair from 1913 to 1936 and 1983 to 2015. Each magazine is fully searchable and presented in a comprehensive cover-to-cover format. Both articles and advertisements are indexed. A short survey for the database is available online for campus feedback.
ProQuest Historical Newspapers includes archival runs of the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, New York Amsterdam News, the Pittsburgh Courier and the Baltimore Afro-American. A separate survey is available for feedback regarding this database.
"The University Libraries' goal is to provide content that meets the curriculum and research needs of students and faculty," said Joel Thornton, head of Instruction and Liaison Services for University Libraries. "Feedback on our current trials will aid us as we consider future purchases of archival resources that can be used across a variety of disciplines."
