The new TIPS for TAs workshop series for teaching assistants will begin today, March 25. This series will highlight topics like navigating academic integrity, using Blackboard, and enhancing student engagement.

The series will begin with a conversation on a pedagogical topic during Meet-up Mondays. The conversation will conclude with a hands-on session during Follow-Up Fridays. All sessions are held at the TIPS Center in Gibson Annex.

Teaching assistants can attend either or both workshops each week. Registration is required for Meet-up Mondays but not for Follow-up Fridays.

This series schedule is:

Meet-up Monday: Academic Integrity

• Date and time: March 25, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
• About: Academic Integrity is often a tricky topic to navigate. How can you address the issues and reduce violations? What should you consider in a syllabus, an exam, an assignment, or group work?

Follow-up Friday: How Can I Change MY Practices to Decrease Academic Integrity Violations?

• Date and time: March 29, noon-3 p.m.
• About: What ideas do you have? What changes do you want to make? How can we help you brainstorm?

Meet-up Monday: Making Blackboard Work for YOU!

• Date and time: April 8, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
• About: Learn tips and tricks to make your Blackboard experience better, save you time with grading and course creation, and make your teaching experience easier.
• RSVP for the Blackboard workshop

Follow-up Friday: What Changes Can I Make to Make MY Blackboard Course?

• Date and time: April 12, noon-3 p.m.
• About: What would you like to add or change to your course? How can we help you make some of the changes discussed during the Meet-up Monday discussion?

Meet-up Monday: Using Reflection to Enhance Student Engagement

• Date and time: April 22, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
• About: Research shows that students are better able to critically assess and comprehend materials when assignments and assessments include an element of reflection. Explore strategies to increase critical reflection in your course.

Follow-up Friday: How Can I Add Reflection in MY Class?

• Date and time: April 26, noon-3 p.m.
• About: How can you add an element of reflection in your course? What do your assignments look like? Can you increase this teaching tool?
