University of Arkansas graduate student and euphonium player Ryan Moos was one of four finalists in the United States Army Band "Pershing's Own" competition. Moos had less than a month to prepare repertoire and send in a recording for the competition, and after he was chosen as a finalist he flew to Washington D.C for a final audition.

This was one of many successes Moos has had competing on euphonium, including winning the Music Teacher's National Association competition and earning runner-up in their south-central division.

Moos' euphonium quartet, the Southwind Quartet, has also had recent success, advancing through a competition with the International Tuba Euphonium Conference. The quartet includes Moos, graduate student Cody Hutchinson and undergraduates Jordan Alimena and Stephen Hunt.

Moos said he is also looking forward to many other projects, including auditioning for the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival competition and auditioning for the Airforce Ceremonial Brass.

He will also be giving a solo recital this semester in Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall and will perform pieces on both euphonium and tuba. Moos said he hopes to play with the Airforce Ceremonial Brass one day but would eventually like to become a collegiate teacher.

Ryan Moos is a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in music performance. He is a member of Benjamin Pierce's euphonium and tuba studio. Moos earned his bachelor's degree in music education from Texas Tech University in 2018.
