Freshman and Seniors Look for an Email to Take the National Survey of Student Engagement

The University of Arkansas always seeks to improve the student experience on campus, and because student feedback is crucial to making this happen, starting today students can participate in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).

The survey is designed to gather information from freshmen and seniors about their college experiences, both in and out of the classroom. The results of the survey will allow the university to evaluate and compare the experiences of University of Arkansas students with students throughout the country.

Freshman and senior students should receive an email, with the subject line "The University of Arkansas wants your feedback," from "Ms. Melissa Harwood-Rom, Dean of Students" on behalf of nsse@nssesurvey.org with information and a link to take the survey online.

"We want this to be as easy for students as possible," said Alice Griffin, director of Curriculum Review and Program Assessment. "Students can even take the survey on their mobile devices."

Because the impact of the survey is so great, it is important that each student voice be heard. If enough students participate, the results can effect changes at the university that will improve the quality of education for Arkansas students in addition to helping the campus further demonstrate the value of an education at the University of Arkansas.

"Taking this survey is easy. The results will help us give students a better University of Arkansas experience, so let your voice be heard," said EmmaLe Davis, director of Student Affairs assessment. "This is a rewarding opportunity for you as students to make a difference in the future of your university. Just look for the email from NSSE and follow the link."

In appreciation for participating, the first 1,000 students who complete the survey will receive a free t-shirt. Everyone who completes the survey by May 1 will be automatically entered in a random drawing to win one of 10 Apple Watches.

If you have any questions about this project at the University of Arkansas or how the university plans to use the results, please contact Alice Griffin at agriffin@uark.edu or 479-575-5252. More information about the survey is available at the NSSE Web site.
