Deadline Approaches to Nominate Top Alumni in Education, Health Professions
The deadline for nominations to the 2019 Alumni Awards of the College of Education and Health Professions is Friday, Feb. 15. Recommendations from faculty, students, staff and the community are encouraged.
Three people are named each year, representing both halves of the college plus a noteworthy recent graduate.
The categories are:
- Outstanding Alumni Award in Education recognizes a graduate with exceptional professional and personal achievement and extraordinary distinction in the education professions
- Outstanding Alumni Award in Health and Human Services recognizes a graduate with exceptional professional and personal achievement and extraordinary distinction in the health and human service professions
- Outstanding Young Alumni Award recognizes an individual who graduated within the past 10 years and is engaged in their first career, and has demonstrated exceptional professional and personal achievement and extraordinary distinction in the education or health and human service professions
Nominations are made with an online form.
The Dean's Advisory Council of the college established the awards in 2011. Dean Michael T. Miller and a committee of the council select the recipients. Nominations are kept in a pool for two years. Recipients will be honored at the college's spring commencement as well as at its annual Alumni Awards reception during commencement weekend.

Major gift will expand U of A research mission through collaborative clusters, driving commercialization and entrepreneurship education.
Faculty and students will collaborate with a university in India to develop innovations for medical devices and protective equipment.
Anne O'Leary-Kelly, senior associate dean and professor of management at the Sam M. Walton College of Business, has been named chair of the Walton Arts Center Council.
The Virtual On-Campus Jobs Fair for students seeking on-campus positions will be from 1-4 p.m. Aug. 26. Deadline for departments and offices to participate in the fair is Aug. 19.
Faculty, staff, students and alumni are encouraged to submit videos for an online open house to welcome students back to campus. Submit by Monday, July 20.
