Blackboard Upgrade to Bring New Features on Dec. 24

It's almost time for Winter Break! And this year's gift to you includes an upgrade to Blackboard Learn.

The annual Blackboard Learn upgrade will take place during a 24-hour period beginning at 11 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24, and going through Tuesday evening, Dec. 25. Students, faculty and staff will be unable to access Blackboard during this time.

Following the maintenance upgrade, many new features will be available to students, faculty and staff, including added video capabilities and the option to play videos inside of a responsive player that adjusts to your device instead of playing in a pop-up window.

For instructors, a new attendance tool, is available to use that will insert a single column next to student grades. This will make it easier for instructors to identify students and also review grades through the Blackboard Instructor App.

Another exciting feature is that instructors will now be able to quickly provide personalized video feedback for assignments. Videos can be embedded anywhere Blackboard provides a content window. Additionally, new document features allow for students and instructors to download document files with annotations.

View a detailed list of each of the Blackboard Upgrade features on the TIPS website. If you have additional questions about these upgrades, stop by the TIPS Center in Gibson Annex to meet with the TIPS staff.

Winter break hours for the TIPS Center are: Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. You can also call the help desk for Blackboard support 479-575-HELP.

The TIPS website provides quick teaching tips, faculty spotlights, upcoming events, and help with academic technology tools.
