Students at ACT Bootcamp Hear National Expert on ACT Preparation
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Jim Giovannini, one of the nation’s leading authors on preparing for the ACT led the ACT SUCCESS Bootcamp at the University of Arkansas Saturday, Dec. 1.
A total of 150 high school students in the U of A Talent Search programs attended the session, learning common types of questions, how to to navigate the test structure, reviewing helpful formulas and rules, taking part in practice drills and going over practical strategies to get their best scores on the upcoming exam.
The students represented 12 high schools: Berryville, Cedarville, Eureka Springs, Fort Smith Northside, Gentry, Green Forest, Lincoln, McDonald County, Missouri, Mountainburg, Rogers Heritage, Springdale, and Van Buren.
Talent Search is a “TRIO” program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The program provides a full spectrum of services to students from disadvantaged backgrounds that have the potential to succeed in higher education. The U of A has three Talent Search grants which serve 37 target schools. Talent Search is committed to assisting students in overcoming barriers to higher education. Providing services that allow students to successfully perform on the ACT ensures their ability to enter college and be competitive for scholarship opportunities.
