Four students — Taylor Boykin, Anna-Claire Butler, Becca Mader, and Chris Prudhomme of the Sociology and Criminology Department — attended the Lambda Alpha Epsilon Region 3 Conference in Lee's Summit, Missouri, Oct. 18-21, along with their facuty advisor, Lauren Sabon. They represented the Alpha Upsilon Beta chapter of LAE here at the University of Arkansas in the regional crime scene investigation, academic testing, firearms competition, and physical agility competition.

Member Chris Prudhomme placed second in his age category for the physical agility competition and the group as a whole scored respectfully in the CSI competition and academic testing. In addition to the competitions, the students networked with other students from across the Midwest along with criminal justice practitioners. Local law enforcement also offerered a canine officer presentation/Q&A about drug locating.

Taylor Boykin, a junior criminal justice and psychology major, stated of the conference: "I thought it was both inspiring and motivating to see established professionals in my field living out my dream job. Having the opportunity to attend the conference gave me a glimpse of my future and led me to reflect on the reasons I love my discipline! It was such a great experience!"

The student group plans to send members to the national conference in March in Baltimore, Maryland.

The student group is actively looking for new members who are interested in criminology, criminal justice, and related topics. If you are interested in joining, please contact chapter President Anna-Clair Butler at mab051@email.uark.edu.
