National journalists, whose expertise is in political news coverage, will be on hand at the University of Arkansas' J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences to talk about the results of the midterm elections at the annual Center for Ethics in Journalism and School of Journalism and Strategic Media forum.

The forum titled, "Midterm Elections: What Happened & Why?" is free and open to the public. It's from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Alumni House.

The forum will feature nationally accomplished journalists:

  • Julie Hirschfeld Davis, New York Times White House correspondent
  • Sabrina Siddiqui, U.S. political correspondent The Guardian
  • Steven A. Holmes, the 2018 visiting distinguished professor and CNN's standard and practices executive director

"We've got a great panel of experts who will dissect the election results and tell us what it will do for the country going forward," said Holmes, who brings decades of journalism experience. In 2001, he was part of a team at The New York Times that was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for coverage of race relations.

Larry Foley, chair of the School of Journalism and Strategic Media, will give the introduction.

"Ethical journalism is something we teach," Foley said. "It must be taught, preached and practiced. The role our Center for Journalism Ethics plays on our campus sets us apart and we emphasize getting stories right."
