FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Georgeen Theodore will present a lecture at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in Ken and Linda Sue Shollmier Hall, Room 250 of Vol Walker Hall, on the University of Arkansas campus, as part of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design lecture series.

Theodore, AIA, is a professor at New Jersey Institute of Technology's College of Architecture and Design, where she directs the Master of Infrastructure Planning program. She is a founding partner and principal of Interboro Partners, a Brooklyn-based architecture, urban design and planning research office.

In her lecture, titled "Sooner or Later," she will discuss the work of her firm, which has been recognized for its inventive and inclusive approach. The firm's foundation is good listening, keen observation and productive community engagement. Interboro's participatory, place-specific approach creates consensus around complex projects ranging from buildings, parks and open spaces, to neighborhood, city and regional plans. In this lecture, Theodore will present a series of projects and discuss the work in relation to the lecture's series theme of "the future."

Since the firm was founded in 2002, it has worked with a variety of public, private and nonprofit clients. The firm has received many awards for its innovative projects, including the Curry Stone Design Prize Social Design Circle (2017), the Rice Design Alliance Spotlight Award (2013), the Museum of Modern Art PS1's Young Architects Program (2011), the Architectural League's Emerging Voices Award (2011) and Young Architects Award (2005), and the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter's New Practices Award (2006).

Theodore received a Bachelor of Architecture from Rice University and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where she graduated with distinction.

The school is pursuing continuing education credits for this lecture through the American Institute of Architects and the American Society of Landscape Architects.

The public is invited to attend. Admission is free, with limited seating.
