New Short Takes: Honors Passport Students, Faculty Travel "The Way"
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Students learn about significant cultural and historical events and where they happened through the Honors Passport study abroad program.
The Honors Passport intersession courses immerse students in historically significant sites, providing the opportunity to learn through travel. Experiential learning, like the many international exchange and study abroad programs offered at the U of A, is an important part of the transformative power of education.
“With the Honors Passport program, our goal is to create a signature international experience where students and professors together explore the interaction of contemporary and historical sites, architecture, texts, culture and artifacts,” said Lynda Coon, dean of the Honors College.
Earlier this year, the Passport Program took students to France and Spain to sites along the ancient pilgrimage trail, the Camino de Santiago, known as “The Way.” Last year, the program traveled to sites throughout Peru, culminating in a trip to Machu Picchu. Next year they will explore Sicily’s mosaic culture.
