Learn About Housing Options at Off-Campus Living Fair Oct. 10

Students will have the chance to see what living options they have when moving off campus at the Fall Off-Campus Living Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the International Connections Lounge of the Arkansas Union.

Property management representatives from over 15 local property management companies and apartment complexes will participate in the fair, along with campus entities, such as Chartwells, UAPD, and Transit and Parking will be on hand as well to educate and answer questions about campus resources. The fair is hosted by Off-Campus Student Services.

Students will have an opportunity to win more than $1,000 in gift cards and prizes such as TVs, Yeti coolers, gift baskets, Beats headphones, gift cards, and more just for attending.

The University of Arkansas requires first-year students to live on campus, with few exceptions. As students advance in their collegiate career, they tend to move off campus into apartments and other rental properties in the local community. In order to secure housing within a student's desired budget and location, now is the time to start exploring options.

"While the semester may have just started, we want to make sure students explore and evaluate all their options before making a decision and sign a lease at a residence that is the right choice for them," said Susan Stiers, associate director for Off-Campus Student Services. "This fair is a great one-stop shop to drop-in and learn about many different communities all in one place, as well as receive information about how to be a good neighbor in the community."

For students who are interested in continuing to reside on campus, housing contracts for the 2018-19 year are open now at housing.uark.edu. Properties present at the fair are listed on the university's official housing search website, offcampushousing.uark.edu.
