CNN Executive Director to Speak in Honor of Global Ethics Day on Oct. 18

In celebration of Global Ethics Day, visiting distinguished professor and author Steven Holmes will be lecturing on "Being an Ethical Journalist in the 'Fake News' Era."

Holmes has over 40 years of experience in print and broadcast journalism, and he was part of a Pulitzer Prize-winning team for The New York Times in 2001. Holmes currently serves as the CNN Worldwide executive director for the Office of Standards and Practices.

Holmes is the 2018 visiting distinguished professor of ethics in journalism for the School of Journalism and Strategic Media in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.

This event is free and open to the public. It will take place in Shollmier Hall, Room 250 of Vol Walker Hall. A reception with light food and beverages will be held at 5:30 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 18, in the main lobby of the first floor of Vol Walker Hall. Holmes will be welcoming and interacting with guests at the reception. The lecture begins at 6 p.m., and a question and answer period will follow.
