Celebrate Russia and Ukraine at Global Series in Holcombe Hall

Discover Russia and Ukraine during this month's Holcombe Global Series.

The presentation starts at 8 p.m. today in Holcombe Hall's living room.

The evening will be a combined presentation of three exchange students, two from Russia and one from Ukraine.

Emma Briantseva, a Russian student, will share information about her country and address stereotypes that often stem from this region.

"My favorite thing about Russia is my home city: Saint Petersburg. Plus I really love our mentality and the idea, that people can stay positive even when something goes completely wrong," Briantseva said.

Russia is the largest country in the world, bordering both European and Asian countries. Among those bordering countries is Ukraine, which features a coastline along the Black Sea. The two countries share a complex past, but have many similarities.

Anna Albert, an international student from Ukraine, will share her culture, focusing on the country's history, as well as addressing similarities with Russia.

"Ukraine is a young country, just 27 years old," Albert said. "I like the national clothes and symbols, I love nature and food. It's delicious and healthy."

This event is open to all within the university community. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends and engage with the presenters after the presentation.

Global Series is an on-going program with past programs including India and Pakistan.
