Get Ready for Parking Changes During Move-in

Move-in for the 2018-2019 school year begins on Thursday, Aug. 9 and runs through Monday, Aug. 13.

University Housing coordinates the effort and staff expect more than 5,200 students to be moving into residence halls during this period..

Faculty and staff will not be able to park in any of the red resident-reserved lots during move-in dates.

Resident reserved parking that will not be available includes Lots 6, 22, 30, 37, 40, 41, 40A, 50, and 64. Incoming students and parents will use those spaces during move-in.

Those lots will be closed to university employees beginning at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8 and they will become available again on Tuesday, Aug. 14.

The busiest days of the move-in will be Friday, Aug. 10, with about 1,100 students arriving; and Saturday, Aug. 11, when another 2,400 students arrive.

Visitors to campus can use the Garland Avenue Parking Garage's upper levels, Harmon Avenue Parking Garage's upper levels, lots on the west side of Razorback Road, and Lot 56 near Martin Luther King Blvd. The first level of Stadium Drive Parking Garage will also be used for move-in parking.

Current parking permit holders can still park in those areas but should remember that conditions are crowded during the move-in days.

UAPD will have an increased presence during move-in, with officers stationed at various places on campus to help facilitate traffic movement.

In addition, University Housing provides detailed information for guests coming to campus, including

  • How students can schedule a move-in time
  • Where parents and students may park

Maps show the prescribed routes to each residence hall. This is crucial so that visitors to campus can avoid construction areas that may hinder their arrival.
