Traffic Will Be Re-Routed as Dickson Intersection Gets Facelift

Improvements will soon begin at the intersection of West Dickson Street and Arkansas Avenue that will require motorists to avoid the area.

The work begins on Monday, June 4 and may continue through Friday, June 22. Detour signs will be posted to help drivers get around the intersection.

Drivers may use Gregg Avenue between Lafayette Street and Dickson Street as part of an alternate route.

In addition, Razorback Transit Route 7 will be altered in that area. The bus will not be able to utilize the Dickson and West stop, or the Bell Engineering stop.

According to the Transportation Division of the City of Fayetteville, crews will be reconstructing the intersection and replacing it with asphalt and thermoplastic brick crosswalks.

The work will take place from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for the duration of the project.

Access to residences and businesses will be allowed but the intersection will be closed to all vehicle traffic.

Sidewalks will remain open.

Rain or unforeseen problems could delay the project.
