College of Engineering Celebrates Student Successes
Rachel Holmer, the College of Engineering's Outstanding Senior for 2018, is pictured with John English, dean of the college of engineering, and Ed Pohl, head of the department of industrial engineering. Holmer was honored May 1 for her accomplishments in the classroom, on campus and in the community.
College of Engineering students, staff and faculty gathered May 1 to honor more than two dozen outstanding students from the 2017-18 academic year. The winners were:

Porter Stone Co-Op Award Winners
The Porter Stone Coop Award is given to engineering students who have excelled in cooperative education. It was created by Professor Porter Stone, who was a faculty member in the industrial engineering department for many years. Professor Stone greatly appreciated the value of cooperative education.

National Science Foundation Fellows
Each year, the National Science Foundation awards Fellowships to outstanding students in STEM fields who are pursuing research-based graduate education. This year, the campus had 4 winners and 6 honorable mentions — this includes current students and alumni. In total, these students will receive more than half a million dollars in funding. Of this total, 3 of the winners were College of Engineering students or alumni.

Doctoral Fellows
The Graduate School offers two levels of competitive merit-based fellowships to provide financial support to outstanding incoming doctoral students.
