At the recent 2017 meeting of the Association of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies in San Diego, Tim Cavell, professor in the Department of Psychological Science at the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, was awarded the status of ABCT Fellow.

As noted by Gail Steketee, president of Association of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies, the criteria for Fellow status are "quite stringent" and distinguish awardees who have "made outstanding and unusual contributions to the field of behavioral and cognitive therapies."

Cavell has been a professor in the Department of Psychological Science since 2002 and was previously its director of clinical training (2002-2014). He is on the Board of Professional Affairs for the American Psychological Association and is the current chair of the Board of Directors for the Council of University Directors of Clinical Psychology.
