Graduate Students Invited to Participate in De-Stressing Dissertation Week Activities
De-Stressing Dissertation Week activities are aimed at helping students reduce the anxiety that comes with the last week of classes.
The Office of Graduate Fellowships and Student Support will kick off De-Stressing Dissertation Week on Monday, Dec. 4. The week is filled with activities aimed to help graduate students decompress during the last week of the fall semester.
Some of the events featured during the week are:
- Coffee, Tea and Coloring – 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Dec. 4-8, Graduate Student Lounge. Graduate students are invited to stop by the Graduate Student Lounge in Gearhart Hall throughout the week to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and de-stress with a bit of coloring.
- Yoga and Mindfulness – 11 a.m.-12 p.m., Dec. 4, Graduate Student Lounge. Ed Mink, director of wellness and health promotion at the Pat Walker Health Center, will lead students through yoga and mindfulness exercises that relax the mind and body.
- Dog Therapy with the K-9 Officers – 9-11 a.m., Dec. 5, Graduate Student Lounge. Graduate students are welcome to visit with and pet the UAPD dogs.
- 5-Minute Chair Massages – 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Dec. 6, Graduate Student Lounge. Blue Cliff College massage therapy students will be in the Graduate Student Lounge giving students free 5-minute chair massages.
- Photo Booth, Writing on the Wall, and Thank You's – 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 7, Graduate Student Lounge. Graduate students are invited to celebrate the end of the semester by taking photos with friends in a photo booth, writing their advice on the wall of the Graduate Student Lounge and recording thank you videos to say thank you to the family, friends and faculty who have supported their graduate education. This event is co-sponsored by the Graduate Student Congress.
