FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Chapter of Young Americans for Liberty will host a speech by Mark West, the Libertarian candidate for Arkansas governor in the 2018 election.

West will speak at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 in Giffels Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

West currently serves as pastor at White River Baptist Church in Oil Trough, Independence County, as well as corporate office manager for Mechanical Construction Services Inc. in Newark.

West is an East Arkansas native and lifelong resident of the state. He graduated from West Memphis High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University in 1999.

He believes that the United States’ government should be small, efficient, and suit the needs of hard-working Americans first, rather than special interests or corporate giants.

His political platform is available on his website.

The U of A Chapter of Young Americans for Liberty is a registered student organization. The national organization’s stated goal is “to cast the leaders of tomorrow and reclaim the policies, candidates and direction of our government.”
