Human Environmental Sciences Schedules Workshops for Homecoming Weekend

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The School of Human Environmental Science's in the U of A's Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences is holding a day of workshops on Friday in conjunction with its annual Homecoming and alumni weekend.

Alumni of the school, friends and anyone interested have opportunities to attend workshops in areas related to the school's programs.

Workshops offered Friday are:

• "Nutrition: The Science on your Plate" by clinical instructor Mechelle Bailey and instructor Nancy Buckley, 10-11 a.m., Human Environmental Sciences Building, Room 112.
• "Early Childhood: State of the Art Facilities and Programs" by clinical assistant professors Laura Herold and Shelley McNally, 11 a.m.-noon, Jean Tyson Child Development Study Center.
• "Behind the Scenes: Enclothe Fashion Show 2017 and Beyond" by instructor Stephanie Hubert, 1:30-2:30, Human Environmental Sciences Building Room 228.

The nutrition workshop includes recipe modification demonstrations based on research by U of A faculty.

The early childhood session focuses on how children learn and develop best, and includes a tour of the Jean Tyson Child Development Center with information on its educational philosophy, the new Birth through Kindergarten major and the Reggio Emilia study abroad program in Italy.

The fashion show workshop examines last year's Enclothe: Futuristic Floral Benefit Fashion Show, emerging technologies used at the event and includes displays of student designs modeled in the show.
