$1United Social Media Drive Raising Donations for U of A United Way
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The $1United social media drive for the U of A United Way campaign started at 7 a.m. and will continue until 7 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24.
Anyone on campus can use the Venmo app on their mobile device to contribute $1 – or more. The donation will go directly to the United Way of Northwest Arkansas' Venmo account, but will be credited to the U of A United Way's United We Win campaign.
“We hope students, especially, will use Venmo to make a donation that fits their budget,” said Jacque Linebarger, campaign coordinator. “Every donation matters in this campaign, and this is the first year we’ve been able to reach out to students and give them a chance to participate in the campaign.”
Venmo is a free download to any mobile device. Use the @UnitedWayNWA tag when making a donation through Venmo.
Anyone can also use their mobile device to access https://unitedway.uark.edu and make an online donation.
So far the United We Win campaign has raised $77,142 – 48 percent of the goal to raise $160,000 for programs that help children living in poverty in Northwest Arkansas. All donations will go to the United Way of Northwest Arkansas, which helps fund 38 programs developed by 31 local organizations. The United Way of Northwest Arkansas has among the lowest administrative costs of any philanthropic organization in the country: 96 percent of all local donations go the programs for children in Northwest Arkansas.
