FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The U of A United Way campaign, United We Win, is taking some pointers from various social media fundraising efforts and launching its own – $1United.

It’s a 24/24 event – running 24 hours starting Oct. 24. The drive will start at 7 a.m. Tuesday and wrap up at 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The campaign hopes to reach everyone on campus – but especially students – and encourage them to use the Venmo app on their mobile devices to contribute $1 to United We Win.

“This is a great way for U of A students to be a part of the United We Win campaign,” said Andrew Counce, president of the ASG. “Northwest Arkansas is our home while we’re at the university, and I know students appreciate an opportunity to give back and help the children in our community.”

If you don’t have the Venmo app it’s a free download to any mobile device. You can use the @UnitedWayNWA tag when making a donation through Venmo.

You can also use your mobile device to access https://unitedway.uark.edu and make your online donation that way. $1 donations are the goal, but of course any donation is welcome.

Everyone can follow the progress of $1United on the UARKUnited Twitter and Facebook accounts and help spread the word by sharing and retweeting the posts and by using #UARKUnited.
