Make Your Spanish Language Skills Count and Get Credit

Advance your Spanish speaking skills while earning credit hours by taking the Advanced Spanish Exam.

Students with native and near native Spanish proficiency may take a fast track exam to earn credit for up to nine hours of Spanish credit for the following courses: SPAN 3003, SPAN 3033, and SPAN 4003.

To qualify for the fast-track exam, students must demonstrate native or near native proficiency prior to taking the exam. The qualification is based primarily on the linguistic skills of the student, not their ethnicity or nationality.

The exam is offered once a semester (in April and November) and may not be repeated.

Students should consult an adviser before registering for the exam.

Pre-registration is required. The deadline for pre-registration is Oct. 25, and the exam will be given at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 3 in Kimpel Hall 310.

For more information about the exam, contact Violeta Lorenzo, assistant professor in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences' Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures, at violetal@uark.edu.
